Description of Mercury Meltdown: Revolution

Mercury Meltdown Revolution is a brain-teasing puzzle game that challenges players to immerse themselves in a colorful world of sci-fi machines, crazy characters, and bubbling test tubes. Using the Wii Remote, players guide a liquid mercury ‘blob’ around traps, door switches, spikes, moving floors, and other hazardous elements in order to complete the level.

Customer Reviews

What a great WII game. We’ve played Zelda and a few others, and while Mercury Meltdown may not cost $50 and may not be a big, Hollywood-style release, it is a wonderfully addictive, puzzling game. It is keeping this 47 year old and his 12 year old daughter up late on school nights.

All WII games should be this good. Can’t tell you how disappointing it is to pay $50 for a game and get it home to find it’s totally lame. This game is a reasonable $20 and is oodles of fun.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game Kororinpa: Marble Mania which came out some months before this one, and the action in this game is pretty similar. However, it feels different enough that it’s definitely not just a level pack for that game. The blob physics add a new dimension, as does the focus on solving puzzles by changing your blob different colors, mixing different color blobs to make secondary colors, etc. It’s neat stuff. For 20 bucks this game is an absolute steal, and it’s got a lot of levels and stuff to unlock. Each level has various ways to excel and try to get a top score — beating par time, collecting all bonuses, and losing as little mercury as possible.

On the downside, so far the “party games” don’t seem to me to be truly multiplayer. But I’ve only unlocked one; I don’t know if later ones involve multiple players. Also, the tilting motions used to steer your blob around are much more constrained than in Kororinpa — no flipping the world upside down! Oh, well. Still a great game and an absolute bargain.
Mercury Meltdown Revolution is a puzzle game with a simple concept, but one that requires a fair amount of skill to unlock all of the bonus material.

You control a glob of Mercury and use one of the several control schemes (Wiimote, Classic Controller etc) to tilt the screen in order to manipulate the glob.

Every challenge has a Goal that must be reached within the time limit. However things get complicated as you must frequently use items found on each level to change the color and texture of your glob to make it to the finish line.

This is a game that will certainly make you think, and ocassionally make you scratch your head. While there are some multiplayer features that get unlocked as you progress, the main gem of this game is in the single player quest.

Overall this game will not stand up to the visual rivals of the “other” Next Gen systems, however its cartoon-ish style works well within this context. The game is easy to pick up and play and offers a great deal of satisfaction with its 130 levels.

This is a great buy for anyone looking to round out their Wii library, and at a [...] it won’t hurt you wallet.

Wow! That pretty much describes this game. Where to begin …

Visuals: The first thing that will strike you is just how beautiful this game is. Every visual aspect of the game has been lovingly constructed, and it shows. There is a lot of great lighting, and the visuals really set the mood for the game.

Sound: Amazing! The alternates between haunting, wistful, and hectic (battle music) – but its always beautiful. Never overbearing, always setting the mood … its been a long time since I’ve heard game music this beautiful. Really, words cannot describe how good some of the songs are.

Plot: Great! Wow, finally a game with a GREAT plot. And I do mean great plot. It advances at an appropriate pace, and the ‘chapters’ that the game is broken up to make the experience of playing the game like reading a good book … especially towards the end. I read some reviewers blasting the game for gratuitous text – and while there is a lot of text, I found it to be the best part of the game. It really was like I was reading a book at points, except the book happens to have beautiful graphics and visuals to go along with it. And this is not a bad thing; in facts its a very good thing. That I can compare the experience of playing this game to reading a good book speaks volumes (ha, pun) to the depth and intricacy of the plot. This isn’t just a pretty looking button masher – this is a game with soul.

Action: Lots of action if thats your thing … I actually found myself wishing there was less of it, so I could progress the plot quicker. That said, I do like collecting things in game, so I did get all of the special items, which slowed me down a bit. The action in the game is fun, and fast-paced. However, there are so many folks that you can potentially get, most of them really aren’t going to see play. You’ll have a few favorites and then some ‘special’ ones for special occasions. Which is sort of sad, but nothing to really do about that.

Format: I mentioned how the game is divided into chapters before … this is a really great innovation (I’m not sure if its been done before) in my opinion. After a long hard day of work, I really don’t have time to spend hours and hours playing in a sitting … even on weekends I do have other obligations. Chapters allow me to play manageable chunks, accomplish something, and then go on the next night without feeling like I just paused the game for a day. I had the chance to just play through chapters without taking a break, and that worked really well too. Like reading a good book, the chapters would end at a suspenseful moment, and since you are switching off between Ellen and Keats you get a really good flow going.

Conclusion: This game is great. Hands down one of the best games I’ve played for any platform. It made me glad I dropped hundreds on a PS3 instead of an XBox 360. However, if you have a short attention span, or just want mindless killing, or some such thing – skip this title, its not for you. If like intricate plots, stunning environments, and beautiful music (with a little action thrown in to spice things up) then go and buy this game right away. I cannot recommend this title highly enough – it simply blew me away.

I honestly cannot think of any negatives for this game. The only thing that is a remote negative is that the downloadable content is not yet available in the USA. If you’re in PAL territory or Japan (maybe all of Asia, not sure) its available though. Also, replay value is not super high – once you know the plot you know the plot. However, its is without a doubt worth the money and worth the play-through.

I had the good fortune to play this game on an excellent 1080p hdtv (more than capable of handling the 720p format this game is in), and it really made a difference. While of course you’ll still have an amazing experience on any TV, when a game has such stunning visuals as this one does make an effort to play it on an HDTV if you can. :)

So go and buy and play this game … and have fun! :)
Okay. I Love this game!!! The fighting sequences are not complicated in any way. Sometimes (always with the boss fights) you have to figure out how to beat the enemies by evaluating a picture. But this is also an easy task.

I have to say whoever made this has a wonderful immagination! I am always interested to find out what the next foe looks like! And the story lines are fun to solve. My attention is never lost.

This is the perspective of a 15 year old female…so I dunno how this will fare with others.
Folklore is truly a sight for sore eyes. Its a brilliantly told story about a girl named Ellen and a guy named Keatz. You can play both sides of their tale.

The cut scenes are shown in several different ways. One of which is a very interesting comic-book style. Each and ever cut scene is well done and tells the part of the story they are telling very well.

In story, theres a murder in Doolin, the town of the dead, and you must find out why there was a murder while finding out about your past.

Gameplay-wise the game plays well both as an action adventure game with RPG elements tacked on which work great. Only problem is that whenever you switch out your powers there’s about a 5 second pause in the action.

If you are wondering about the game download or find someone with the demo on their PlayStation 3.

Description of Plants Vs. Zombies: Xbox 360

    Platform: Xbox 360

    Customer Reviews

For the uninitiated, let me say that Plants vs. Zombies is an amazing game. It’s fun/funny, and something that can be played in short bursts, or for hours (if you lose track of time…). The general idea is that of a tower defense strategy game. You gather sunshine so you can grow plants that have either offensive or defensive purposes, so you can protect yourself from the onslought of zombies. It’s real-time, meaning that as you are planting the zombies are attacking.

Really the question here shouldn’t be, “should I buy Plants vs Zombies?”. You should, but do you want this particular package? On the xbox 360 they have Plants vs. Zombies available as a downloadable arcade game for 1200 Microsoft Points (the equivalent of $15). It’s the same game as what’s offered on this disc. However, this disc includes the additional games “Zuma” and the amazing “Peggle” (a $5 and $10 value, respectively). Definately something to consider if you haven’t already purchased either of those games.

My one caveat would be that you can’t install the games individually to your xbox, nor can you install the entire disc to the hard drive (this allows for shorter load times and for the system to run quietly. If you were to download the game it would automatically work this way). However, this has nothing to do with the actual game, just the package itself.

“Plants Vs Zombies” is a very enjoyable, funny, and somewhat addictive. I should note that we love the version on the PC (5 Stars) and while the Xbox 360 version is not quite the same, it still is VERY good and adds multi-player fun.

At the core is a tower defense strategy game where you place your special ability plants to stem (no pun intended) the tide of shambling zombies. Picking the right combination of offensive and defensive abilities to suit the situation, in real time, is key to being successful, but is actually fairly easy to get the hang of. Even younger players can become proficient with a little bit of practice.

The controls are OK and work well enough, but also better on the PC.

As noted above the PC version is better in most regards but this version allows us to play together, which makes it a worthwhile game. The mini-games are also fun and add to the replay value as well!

What are your opinions on the new Batman: The Brave And The Bold cartoon?

June 27th, 2011 3 comments

Question by GIR: What are your opinions on the new Batman: The Brave And The Bold cartoon?
the style is the 50s versions, but people don’t like it from what they are used to from the 90s and today.

just want opinions, good ones.

Best answer:

Answer by Allaiyah W
No good. They’ve been making Batman cartoons since at least the 70s, but they made all the good Batman cartoons in the 90s. Hell, Batman TAS linked to & made guest appearences in other DC related cartoons.

What B&tB lacks, much likte The Batman, is general adult appeal. Basicly, the Batman comics aren’t appropriate for kids so the cartoons shouldn’t be aimed at them anyway.
