Question by Jim Java: If you’ve never played a Metroid game, will you understand the story in Metroid: Other M?
I recently saw the trailer for Metroid: Other M. It looked like a neat game, and I want to buy it, but I’m a little confused about how it fits with the other Metroid games. Is it going to be a game you can understand even if you’ve never played a Metroid game? And if not, what Metroid game is?

Yes, you will. Metroid games are cleverly set up so that you don’t need to know the backstory to play the games, and even if you do, the backstory is cleverly woven into the storyline so you don’t even know it’s there. Along with this, Metroid: Other M takes place right after Super Metroid (the third game in the series), so you haven’t missed too many events. If you still want to learn more about Metroid, though, search “Metroid” in Wikipedia or Google.

Other M will hit on story heavily. It will give hidden details about Samus’s past and the games takes place after super metroid. So the beggining of Other M might not make sense to people who are not familiar to the series but u can understand as the game progresses.
