This game is absolutely terrible. The pitching is extremely flawed, it doesn’t register when I press the button a second time for pitching accuracy. When I hit a homerun the announcers say “Ground Ball to second” or If I hit a ground ball they’ll say “deep to center” and when I swing they say “he bunts!”. I have never encountered a game that has had so many problems in it. I know the ps2 is basically obsolete but still, if you’re gonna even bother releasing this game on ps2, at least make it decent. Huge waster of twenty bucks.
I have to concur with the other 2 reviewers. Did I buy the game believing it was going to be groundbreaking? No, after all it is a PS2 game. Did I think it would be this bad? No, this game will have its own special place in hell. I will have nightmares about this game for years. If I save one person from buying this steaming pile, I will feel much better.
Had the exact same problems as John listed in his review. Was so disappointed with the game, that the day after I bought it brand new for $20, I went to GameStop and traded it in for a $6 credit.

Christmas gift for my 7 year old son. We bought an extra blaster so the two of us could play together.
Pros:
- Decent graphics. About what you would expect from a Wii title.
- Challenging. Normal difficulty presents a solid challenge for young kids and adults. Getting every bonus canister is quite difficult on any difficulty (more on that later). Elite difficulty is quite hard.
- Lots of guns. If you are a Nerf Dart Gun fan you will love the variety of guns available in the game. 16 that run the gamut from sniper rifles to grenade launchers and everything in between.
- Customize and upgrade your guns. You can spend your canister points on numerous upgrades and customizations for each gun. Clip size, damage, reload rate, color, dart (trails, whistling etc), extra barrels, scopes, sights and so on. Probably my son’s favorite part of the game.
- Replayability. The levels and game is challenging enough to replay the game over and over again. Good thing since the game itself is very short.
- Red Reveal: A nice gameplay element. Kids will like it.
-Plot, It’s pretty basic, but my son liked the characters, dialog and plot twist. He’s 7, give him a break.

Cons:
- The game is very short. 10 levels I believe. I suppose it’s a “budget” title as you get a $20 gun included with the game, but we could finish the game in about 1-2 hours.
- Only 2 player multiplayer. Why? There’s 4 characters to use, they should all be allowed to play at once.
- Bugs: some bugs that we had to overcome by restarting the level. Crosshairs go missing, game gets frozen in one spot. Not a huge number, but for such a short title and simple game, these things shouldn’t exist. Rushed out for the holidays I susupect.
- Aiming is a bit wonky. Make sure your controllers are calibrated properly before attempting to play this game. The shooting requires precision and jittery crosshairs make it an exercise in frustration. Even properly calibrated, there are some issues with keeping the crosshairs steady.
- Weapon Switching. Each character can hold 4 weapons, unfortunately, switching between weapons requires the use of the D-Pad which is located on top of the gun. Not a comfortable way to switch. Furthermore, the D-Pad which could have been designed to have each gun selected by a different direction (U,D,L, R), is limited to only R

Description of Cursed Mountain Limited Edition

Cursed Mountain is a survival horror game designed specifically for the Wii. Players will take the role of Frank Simmons as he tracks down his brother, who went missing on a trak into the Himalayas to find an ancient Buddhist Artifact

Customer Reviews

I ordered the Limited Edition version of Cursed Mountain with some uncertainty whether or not it would meet my high hopes. Fortunately, it exceeded my expectations in many ways. It’s definitely not for everybody, but for the right kind of gamer this will be a welcome addition to your video game collection.

What’s the difference in having the Limited Edition version? The case is made of tin rather than plastic, the cover art is different (it features a bald, nasty looking, monster-like Buddhist with a dark background) and has a Limited Edition marking on it, and it comes with a CD that has a making of video on one side and the music track for the game on the other. It was definitely worth the extra [...] bucks. Having a tin case with different cover art is pretty cool, and the music is atmospheric enough that it’s actually cool to listen to it while driving. Unfortunately, I have yet to watch the making of video. Once I have, I will probably update this review. Now to the game itself.

Plot: You are Eric Simmons–a famous British mountain climber that is searching for his brother Frank Simmons. Eric knows that his brother climbed Mt. Chomolonzo with Paul Ward (an American), but he is not sure why Paul returned without him. To make things stranger, the famous city of Lhando has been deserted by its Buddhist inhabitants for some unknown reason. It doesn’t take long to find out that there is a curse on the mountain, and the few Buddhists left are more than glad to share their knowledge and wisdom of what happened. The story gets pretty deep, so get ready for some interesting stuff.

Graphics: Pleasing to the eye, and very realistic for a Wii game. The atmosphere is expressed amazingly well, and the enviornment is detailed well enough that you almost feel like you’re in the locales that you travel through. The immersion is truly amazing, especially with the “cinematography” of the game. Frequently, Cursed Mountain uses camera angles that remind you of well filmed movies. From walking through the deserted town of Landho to climbing the blizzard torn peak of Chomolonzo, you will feel like you really are on a Cursed Mountain.

Music/Sound: The music really evokes the enviornment well. The absence of music does the same thing. Silence is implemented perfectly in this game, and when some suspense needs to build up the music comes in to creep things out. Deep Silver knew what they were doing when the arranged the music for this game. Also, the voice acting is excellent. The authenticity of Eric’s accent adds a lot to this game.

Gameplay: Your enemies are ghosts rather than zombies, so you can expect a change of pace with this game. Instead of blood and guts, you will be “killing” your opponents by performing compassion rituals (typically) on their immaterial selves. You will be shooting beams of energy from your pick axe (embued with holy power through additional artificts), or you can just swing away at the ghosts. Either way you will have the opportunity of using the compassion ritual when they are near death which requires some motions of the Wii remote to finish (the controls work very well, so don’t worry about poorly implemented motion functionality). These motions are actually pretty fun, and get progressively more lengthy as the game progresses. Improved artifacts for your axe will be discovered during the game to improve your fighting ability, and you can also find health upgrades if you do a little exploring. Overall, this game isn’t all that difficult, although I did die on several occasions.

Cursed Mountain can pretty much be described as a horror game with lots of exploration. The enviornments are a big part of what makes this game so great, because you’re always finding yourself in a different setting that is very well detailed. Here’s a basic breakdown of the pros and cons of this game.

Pros:
Deep and interesting story
High quality Wii graphics
Realistic enviornments
Good controls
Awesome voice acting
Unique setting

Cons:
May be too slow for some gamers
No multiplayer or rewards for beating the game

Is there any replay value? It’s hard to decide. I have a desire to play through the game again right after beating it. There’s just something about this game that draws me to it. But there won’t be anything different about it, so I’m not sure what is making me want to play again. The average person probably won’t find any replay value in it’s exclusively single-player and nothing is modified after beating the game, but there is definitely a lasting feeling after you get through the end of Cursed Mountain.
I’ve been playing this game for a couple of weeks now and I must say I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the experience. I’m not sure if I’d categorize it as totally survival horror or a Resident Evil clone. It’s much more focused on the adventure aspect than that. As such, I don’t think its slow pace is for everybody. However, I happen to love games of this type so it was right up my alley. Though I would say that the ads I’ve seen about scares are misleading. The game isn’t that scary.

The graphics are one of the best parts of the game. They are good and sometimes fantastic in spots. The size and scope of some levels is downright impressive, and building design is as well. Indoors, things start to look a little muddy, and in large environments outside textures can be blurry. Overall, I’ve seen the graphics of a lot of Wii games, and in spots Cursed Mountain is one of the best looking Wii games I’ve seen.

Gameplay-wise, movement is stiff but not game-breaking. Games in the past have controlled this way, and in many contemporary cases still do, so no big complaints here. Motion gestures are fun and immersive. I’ve seen a lot of reviews complaining about the motion controls in this game, but I’ve never had much of a problem with them. After several tries, I can now do all the motions I encounter in the game without issue, and to me they actually add to the experience.

While it’s no Ico, I’m upset that this game has been reviewed worse than drivel like Deca Sports (sorry, my opinion) and My Sims Racing, when clearly much more effort has been put into it than that, but what can you do? Well, I just hope some other people at least try it, so developers like Deep Silver and Sproing can keep making interesting games for the mature Wii audience. ;)
I did not know what to expect when I pre-ordered this game, but I was pleasantly pleased. This game is most interesting. Enthralling story line kept me glued and very interested. The controls are very simple but sometimes annoying. The graphics are stunning. Overall, I must say that I am pleased with having this game in my video game collection. Although this game is not for everyone, more mature gamers will definitely appreciate this game.

Customer Reviews

My 11 year old is a Disney Princess fan.She especially loves Rapunzed from the Tangled movie. She got this game for Christmas and really liked it.She has already replayed a few times. She likes coloring the pictures with the udraw game tablet and reading the stories. There are also some puzzles and activities on the game like mazes and connect the dots.My daughter found them pretty easy but she still enjoyed this game. So if you have a daughter that is a Disney princess fan and who likes to draw and color, I would recommend this game. Though I don’t think it is for all kids in reference to the previous review,it is great for girls who like to draw and color on the Wii that love Disney princesses.
Purchased this for my 5 year old daughter, thinking it would be an age appropriate and much loved game. This was so easy for her, she was finishing each game in about 10-20 seconds and not having to think through the challenges at all. Even worse, the same games are played over and over again, just with different princesses. She liked it well enough. Finished the game in a few hours (if that) over a couple of days, but I know that she won’t go back to it again. This game is suited for 3-4 year olds (with the ideal age being probably 3).
My 5 year old received this as a gift. I was very disappointed with this game. It was very easy for her. The connect the dots was from 1-10, paint was drop and fill, and no drawing, not at all what I expected. My 3 year old could even finish this game with little difficulty. There is no replay value in this game either. Less than 1 week after receiving it and it’s going to a used game store. Very disappointing.

      Customer Reviews

I am an owner of a Wii Fit, so I wanted to try another interactive game that moved my whole body. This game is just as great as the Wii Fit. Here are a couple of pros and cons of Namco’s Active Life Outdoor Challenge:

      Pro:

Will move your entire body – if you looking for a cardio workout. There are a lot of games that you can play by yourself, against someone or as a team. You can use your Mii; and the game will collect fitness data that you can gage your fitness over time.

      Con:

My kids kept jumping off the mat and off the small squares and triangles. They are not looking down at the mat, but up at the television. So you have to make sure your eyes and feet are coordinated enough for you to watch the screen and ensure your feet are in the right place on the mat.

The mat itself is like the Wii Remote so while was reading the instructions my daughter was using the mat to move the instructions before I could finish reading them. I thought I was going crazy because I wasn’t using the actual Wii Remote to move to the next screen. (This will eventually become a pro when you really get the hang of it)

My daughters and I played for about 90 minutes and we were all sweaty and tired by the time we said ENOUGH! Between this game and Wii Fit I don’t see how anyone could not get a good cardio and strength training fitness regime.

I am anxious to see how Namco will franchise this “interactive mat” into more physically challenging games…i.e. an Active Life series.
I’m not a kid. In fact I’m almost 60 and I bought the game for myself after getting Wii Fit a couple weeks ago and really enjoying the games that are included with that.

I LOVE this game (or series of small games) If you want a good workout and you’re a kid at heart, you’re going to love Outdoor Challenge. I’ve only played it by myself so far but I can tell you that it works every part of your body. I was dripping with sweat after 10 minutes. Some of the games you do standing, or I should say running in place and jumping over logs or jumping on a trampoline over water or jumping rope. There’s a Mine Cart game where you’re leaning to the side and lifting one foot while pumping both hands up and down to propel the cart at ever faster speeds. Or sitting on the mat and rowing with the “paddle” (wiimote) trying to get to the goal as fast as you can.

Like the Wii Fit games, it keeps track of your scores and the scores of others that play so you are constantly trying to beat your best scores and get top scores in the games.

This game is too much fun to waste on kids. Get it for yourself! It’ll make you laugh out loud!
I’m in my 40s, been working out for many years and I’m a big fan of Dance Dance Revolution which stripped 50 pounds off me. I don’t have Wii Fit, but this is the first game I’ve tried for the Wii that really gives DDR a run for its money.

At the beginning, go to Free Play mode first as it lets you practice all the minigames on their easiest levels. Once you get the hang of them, go to the courses on Outdoor Adventure mode that will unlock higher levels as you pass them.

The third mode, Exercise Training, has a variety of courses that range from about 5-10 minutes long. You can’t fail the games on these courses; just keep playing as well as you can for the allotted time. One of the courses, 10 Minute Marathon, simply has you walking or running for 10 minutes. You can use this course for interval training; for instance, run for 10 seconds and walk for 20 seconds (or the other way around!) for 20 rounds. The Outdoor Adventure mode also allows you to design your own courses, although it seems you can only save one course at a time.

You get “Activity Points” for completing the exercise courses, which are put on a daily graph along with a Brain Age-like stamp. Unfortunately there is no calorie counter in this game (unlike DDR for PS2) and it doesn’t record exact dates you worked out, just “2 days ago”, etc. It also doesn’t record your weight, but maybe that makes this more suitable for children than Wii Fit.

I’d like to add that this game is VERY beginner-friendly, especially compared to another Namco exergame for Wii, We Cheer (another excellent game, but with a huge leap in difficulty level). Active Life can be played by anyone – young or old, from sedentary overweight folks to athletes. On Free Play, there are scrolling instructions for each game that you can easily skip past, and Easy mode even has on-screen prompts. Exercise mode allows you to go at your own pace, even if you have to just walk through or keep taking breaks. On the other end of the spectrum, the most advanced courses are super-tough; I still haven’t passed them! This is one game you won’t “outgrow”.

My favorite games are the mine cart (a real core/balance challenge), mountain boarding, pipe slider, speed skating and the most DDR-like game, whack-a-mole. The mat slides around a bit (putting it on a sticky yoga mat helped) and is probably too narrow for two “plus-sized” adults to play at once, but it responds very well. I would love to see future Active Life games add more enhancements to Exercise mode (like keeping track of scores, dates and calories burned) and add more types of games like perhaps a music/rhythm game and games that use lateral and forward/back jumping.

But overall, this is an awesome first entry for what I hope will be a long and successful series!

And buy this game. This game has good graphics and I am using a 6850 and AMD 945 @ 3.4ghz. Runs smooth and no lag. Takes a bit getting used to at first (i.e.batting and pitching), but I am finding myself enjoying this game immensely. I have not had much time with it so far, but I cant see any show stopping bugs after 10 hours of play.

For the casual baseball fan that wants to play some good baseball on his PC. This is the game to get. I appreciate the fact that 2K is still supporting the PC. And likewise I will help support them.

Every year people complain that we dont get updates as fast as the console counterparts. But just be happy that actually care enough to release a version.

2K. I know you guys pour alot of money into marketing. But you should really market more toward the 28-35 crowd. We grew up with all the game machines and we are now the likely audience to actually buy the game.

To sum it up. This game is alot of fun and I cant wait for Baseball to start! Go A’s!
If ever there was a game that would be perfect for the PC platform it would be a baseball management game. This is not that game, in fact it’s not even close to being that game. The game seems to be directly copied from a console to perform on the PC. This becomes most obvious when you realize that the default settings for the controls are meant for a gamepad that you “obviously” already own… Anyways you have the option to change the hotkeys so you’d think that would solve the problem but it really doesn’t. Having the same key do different things (for batting, fielding, pitching etc) might work with a gamepad but with a keyboard it turns out to be very counter intuitive, I tried several hotkeybindings to sort this out but no matter what I did it never seemed to work for both batting and pitching at the same time.

Now you might have a gamepad and figure that you can therefore live with this obvious fault but I should warn you. The controls aren’t the only thing directly copied from the console versions. Where PC’s excel is with managing databases, data and information with easy click-and-go accessibility. MLB2k11 has none of that, the menu’s are cluttered and your mouse will be mostly useless in trying to get through it. When playing this game I constantly felt lost in the menu’s or frustrated by my lack of control over the system. I have played quite a lot of sports game (soccer, hockey and basketball games) and never have I seen a menu being this awkward.

One last thing about the controls/gameplay. For some reason gamedesigners think they can recreate what its like playing baseball for real on a computerscreen. Thus you get thrown into the roll of pitcher and batter in this game. The pitching works well enough, you set a target using the directional keys and pick the sort of pitch you want to make then press that pitch’s corresponding button long enough to get the optimum power on it and it releases. This works pretty well on the PC (though it’s clear it was meant for the console players) but it gets complicated if you would perhaps like to pick off a runner or something. Now the real issue with the gameplay comes with the batting, gone are the directions you can send the ball too, in fact any control whatsoever over your hit is pretty much gone. It turns into a very frustrating game of trying to time hitting the ‘hit’ button at just the right time. 9/10 times you will be too early or too late and the 10th time you manage to hit the ball straight into the hand of the outfielders. Trying for some actual hitting strategies seems useless with the lack of control you have, its just pounding a button at the right time and then hoping the ball falls somewhere decent.

Now maybe you don’t care about the gameplay at all and you just plan on simming your games and focusing on the managing part of your team and maybe for you the menu options and navigation actually make sense. There is however one last thing you should consider, you will need a very fast PC to be able to survive simming this game. My computer is barely a year old and although not really a gaming computer still quite above the recommended System requirements and yet the game is incredibly slow whilst simming games. It took me a minute to sim just one gameday and with the prospect of 160 to go in the season this got depressing very fast.

Anyways other people seem to have had different experiences with this game then I did but and there are obvious things that go in its favor (the updated rosters etc.) but all I can say is that I wouldn’t recommend this to any baseballloving gamer and most definetly not to any casual gamer who would like to try out a baseball game. If you have to play your local team’s heroes and lead them to that world series that you know they should be capable off I would suggest getting a console version because the PC version is just not worth your money
Baseball games are about the most fun a red-blooded american boy can have. I have owned alot of baseball games going back to the Tony Larusa set of games that I played on my 386SX PC. I look for playablity in a game. I’ve seen games that look pretty but don’t play very well. MLB 2K11 is not one of those games. It may not be the absolute best looking game I’ve seen to date, but it plays very well and has a lot of in-game featuress that make it a very cool baseball game.

One of those features is that the announcers during some point in the game will come up with stats on your player (I create players and insert them into my favorte team)or other players around the league that make it more interesting especially when you see one of your players listed at the top or near the top of the hitting category that the announcers are discussing. The game is very scalable according to your degree of experience. You can make it as easy as you like or as hard as you like. Other great features are instant replay and player creation.

I am more of a person that likes to play the games instead of managing or simming however I do sim games to shorten season and make any adjustments to the team along the way. Playing about every 5th game makes for a long enough season. This game has all these capabilities. You can manage, sim or play any given game that is on your schedule.

The reason for 4 overall stars instead of 5 is that the graphics are NOT the best out there and some of the player movements are a bit unnatural. The player stats area is a bit strange as well since that 1 graph is used show all the stats. You have to cursor over to the subject heading and hit the sort button to see who is the best or worst player for that category. Players that don’t have enough games to qualify show up which distorts the stats. All categories should be a on a seperate page where the unqualified players are automatically filtered out or at least have the opton to filter them out.

This is a great game and it is fun to play.

Indiana Jones is back in a really good way.

The Wii is a natural fit for the adventurer, allowing you not only to crack the whip, but to crack it in interesting ways (grab your enemy by the neck, waist, feet!). Also, the controls for fist fights, while being explained to you in detail during your first fight, still is a natural fit that doesn’t bear repeating nor consulting the manual during “pause” to figure out what’s what.

I have read some reviews on gaming sites that complain about “autosaves” being few and far between and that the controls didn’t always respond as expected. I, for one, can definitively say that I encountered NO SUCH PROBLEMS. My controls work just fine and I have had no mis-cues so far.

If there was ever a complaint that I could have for this game, it would be his facial expressions. They are definitely comical and cartoonish…and not in a good way. That, and the graphics are toned down…which is expected for a Wii game, but after seeing the beautiful colors and sharpness in Super Mario Galaxy, the game developers clearly were not giving the Wii enough credit.

That said, the graphics aren’t THAT bad; I’m simply pointing out that they could have done better. Apart from that minor quip, the gameplay more than makes up for it.

There might be other complaints that the game might be too easy. Keep in mind, however, that the game is targeted to a broader age group and therefore is intended to be enjoyable by all ages. I won’t say who it’s made easier for, but you gamers know who I’m talking about. ;)

It’s a fun ride that will get your nunchuck and wiimote moving. The multi-player game mode is also fun.

And, if game reviews are to be believed, the original Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is an unlockable reward for this game…2 for the price of 1!
I had high expectations for this game. I don’t know why. The last two Indiana Jones action games (Infernal Machine and Emperor’s Tomb) were fun, but not great. That is what this game is: fun, but not great…just good.

The first problem is the story, which moves along without much context, logic, or narrative. Indy just moves from place to place following the mystery. The story is all bones, but no meat, which is disappointing for an Indiana Jones story, as well as one from LucasArts, which used to tell amazing stories through their games.

Another thing that really annoyed me was the controls, specifically, the fighting controls. A quick swing of the remote is a quick jab, that works fine. But a hard swing is a full on left or right hook (depending on which you swing, the nunchuk or the wiimote). This should have been a lot more intuitive, I found myself often swinging really hard with Indy not moving, which resulted in me getting pummeled from the 4 different enemies who were attacking me. This is the same control mechanic that is necessary for swinging one of the many weapons you can have in your hand, which means that swinging the weapon hardly works, and never worked when I wanted it to. I found myself dying during many of these brawls, and heading back to a checkpoint (you regenerate with full health), but there is no way to skip a cut scene (Really? This is game programmer 101!), so you could find yourself watching the same scene over and over if you die often. Also…I would have liked the puzzles to be challenging. They weren’t challenging, and to be honest – I never really felt like there were any actual puzzles to solve. This is an action game, pure and simple.

On the plus side, the voice acting is great. The actor who plays Indy really sounds pretty close to Harrison Ford. When saying one-liners he is nearly indistinguishable. No matter what flaws there are in this game, it is still fun, even through the frustration. Oh, did I mention it has Fate of Atlantis, LucasArts’ classic adventure game, bundled in? (You don’t have to finish the whole game to unlock it – Fate of Atlantis can be unlocked within 30 minutes of Staff of Kings game play).I doubt I’ll replay Staff of Kings anytime soon, but I’ll spend a lot of time on Fate of Atlantis, which plays beautifully (in all it’s talkie glory) with the wiimote.

Threadbare story, unintuitive controls, and a very heavy focus on action over puzzles bring the game down. Good voice acting, pure fun, and one of the greatest adventure games ever made bundled in make the package still worthy of buying. Who am I kidding? LucasArts should have sold this as Fate of Atlantis with Staff of Kings bundled in.
I have to start off by saying that I’m an Indiana Jones fanboy. `Raiders of the Lost Ark’ is one of my “Five Desert Island Movies”. That along with the idea of using the Wii-mote as the whip and being able to pummel Nazis using the Wii sensor controls was too good to pass up. There was no way I was not going to pick this game up the day it came out.

I can’t say this game surpassed any expectations I had but I will say that I was not disappointed. The graphics don’t set any new standards but are good for the Wii. The sound is pretty good and the soundtrack is dominated by well placed cues from the legendary scores of all four films. Some new music is thrown in as well but the newer cuts are few and far between. The voice acting is as good as one could hope for without having any of the original cast. Indy is well done as is Henry Sr. in the multiplayer co-op mode. The dialog has the tendency to be drowned out on occasion by music or other sound effects but no key plot points are missed. Also, a staple of the Indy film series, the “Wilhelm Scream” is featured a couple of times, for those who know what I’m talking about.

The story is okay. There’s no scene that really sets up plot and tells you what the ultimate artifact is that you are after. It could have been developed better but I honestly didn’t buy an Indiana Jones game for the Wii to experience and award winning story. There’s an artifact the Nazi’s are out to get, you need to get it first. Save the better developed stories for the movies.

The controls are good but may take a bit of time to get used to. Using your six-shooter takes some practice but taking out the bad guys is easy once you get it down. Sometimes the only way to defeat an enemy is to shoot objects around where they are taking cover. Throwing punches and using your whip to swing across pits is easy enough but things can get a bit more difficult when you are facing multiple enemies. There is a simple strategy that I employ when I find myself outnumbered; stay near a wall, grapple your enemy, ram them into the wall. This will either kill them or take away 90% of their health. If there are no walls nearby then stay on the move, whip a baddie around the neck, reel him in and deliver a knee to the face. The brutes are easy; just wait until they rear back to throw a punch and simply dodge.

One difficult spot I ran into was in the Istanbul level. There comes a part when you need to throw a skull into a gear to jam it so Indy can move on without being flattened. I must have thrown hundreds of skulls and was almost ready to throw my Wii-mote through the wall but I found out the solution was amazingly simple. When you come to this part just pick up a skull, go to the gear, and make a throwing motion. Don’t push the `A’ button.

The levels are well designed and definitely add to the “Indy” feel of the game. The first level is pretty much just a tutorial on how to use the controls. It’s capped off by Indy having to make his escape by flying a German plane through a narrow canyon. My favorite level has to be the one in Panama, especially when Indy gets to the temple. That entire part of the level completely captures the spirit and inventiveness of the opening temple scene of `Raiders’.

I have completed the game on both the Wii and PS2 and the versions are nearly identical. Pretty much the only difference is that the combat tutorials on the Wii are narrated by Indy and therefore take a bit longer. The Wii also serves up slightly better graphics. Shooting is obviously easier on the Wii but controlling vehicles and other modes of transport is easier on the PS2. Taking on multiple bad guys is also a bit easier on the PS2 but once you get your strategy down on the Wii, it’s nearly as simple.

I have to say I prefer the Wii version for the fact that it serves up a more authentic Indy experience with the use of the motion controls. Also, having the ability to unlock 1992′s `Fate of Atlantis’ is a huge selling point. It is presented exclusively on the Wii platform in all of its talkie glory which makes for a great trip down memory lane. The co-op levels on the Wii are neat if for no other reason than it features Indy and Henry Sr. on an adventure together. I’ve actually been able to complete the first two co-op levels on my own, with a controller in each hand, and they were pretty fun.

In all honesty, this is a pretty short game but I, and I imagine most other Indiana Jones fans, will find reason to go back for more. Hardcore and more experienced gamers may not find it all that challenging. It’s a great introduction to the Wii for Indiana Jones and hopefully just the first of more adventures to come.

Description of GUN: Xbox

Platform: Xbox

Gun is the story of a man’s quest for revenge. When life robs Colton White of all that matters, the only thing left he can trust is his gun. Follow along with him as he seeks to exact vengeful justice on those who have wronged him. Seek retribution as you face corrupt lawmen, warring tribes, cold-blooded outlaws, and ruthless renegades.

Customer Reviews

Gun for the XBox lets you become Colton White, the 20-something gunslinger who is out to avenge his father while tracking down a mysterious object.

In essence this is an action-RPG with you moving from mission to mission, learning more as you go, gaining skills and new weapons. Most missions involve shooting down waves of bad guys with your rifle or revolvers. There are numerous side missions, from pony-express relays to poker playing and tracking down wanted men.

The game is pretty typical of its genre. Pony express missions involve “go here! No, go there! Wait, go to a third spot!” within a time limit. Hunt-and-find missions abound. The plot is also pretty standard. You start with Colton and his “dad” out tracking some game. “Dad won’t last more than one mission,” says I. Sure enough, in the very next area he’s slain. Life was cheap in the Old West.

The graphics are sort of a mixed bag. On one hand they don’t look “stunning” in some parts, at least as high-quality as you’ve come to expect from recent XBox releases. On the other hand, sometimes when you’re riding your horse across the desert and the sun is setting behind rock formations, it is simply *gorgeous*. I also have to comment that the horse movements are really nicely done. The way the horse’s muscles move and the various gaits are right on.

The sound is reasonable. The voice acting isn’t bad, and beyond that you just get the shot noises from the various guns. It’s not in your face, but really it doesn’t need to be. Being in the west was about being in a vast landscape with silence around you.

There were a few glitches with the game. If bad guys were up on the second floor of a building, you could often see their shadows *through the floor* to know where they were. Also, the red dots on the mini-map to point out enemies was nice, but it also gave you a sort of xray vision to pinpoint their locations even if you couldn’t visually see them.

I know this is a mature title, but I found the excess of blood spurting and obscene language to be a bit much. This was the Old West, and yes, there was blood. It doesn’t need to rain across the entire screen. Yes, they were cussers. But the language they used back then would have been different than some of what they say in the game. I’d much rather have had authentic badmouthing than to have them use some of the nasty phrases the game features.

That all being said, I did have a lot of fun playing this, even if at times it felt a bit like I was Link riding all over Hyrule doing my various quests. We’ll have to see what Gun for the XBox 360 is like next!
Before this game came out I thought it would be one of the best games of all time. I’m not saying this game is bad, it’s just not what I was hopeing for. The gameplay is pretty simple. The levels pretty much just killing whoever the enemy in the area is, moving explosive barrels, tracking a bad guy…those I’m fine with. The story based missions are okay, very well written. The side missions that you do to gain more stats, to me, are stupid. Just the same variation of the same mission over and over. The Pony Express missions pretty much are just picking something up and dropping it off to someone else. The item usually changes, but other than that, just catching a bad guy from a wanted poster.
Graphics aren’t bad. The cut scenes are pretty good. Just looks like your normal X-Box game graphics. The controls are easy to learn.
Overall I think the game is pretty fun, but too repetitive. You’d be glad you rented it and didn’t buy it, but it’s worth the rental just to see if it’s your thing.

Gun is a third person shooter for the XBOX. You play a gunslinger out to avenge the death of your father, who was murdered by outlaws. You go From town to town and accomplish missions which propell the story or take a side-quest to earn more money and develope your skills. The best way to describe this game, is Grand Theft Auto meets the old west. You have huge free-roaming levels. First let me get the negatives out of the way. When you travel through towns you will find NPCs (non player characters) walking about, chatting, there is even random crimes taking place. All these are nice touches and add the atmosphere of the gameplay, but the towns feel a bit empty. You will see rivers and lakes in the levels, but you cannot go swimming. Walking to certain areas of the map will be blocked by an invisible barrier; which subtracts from the fantasy. Although the game is free-form, there are a few linear missions, you have to finish through. Negatives aside, GUN this is still excellent and should not discourage you from making a purchase. There has so many fun things to do; you can ride any horse that is not being used, you get an assortment of weapons like, pistols, rifles, shotguns, dynamite and bow with arrows. You can make stealthy kills with a knife and cut people’s throats, become a deputy keep the peace in town, be a bounty hunter and bring down outlaws, hunt bears or wolves, do side missions for other characters or just follow the storyline. There are a lot of elements which will remind you of GTA; except of course you’re a cowboy instead of a gangster. Shootouts can be bloody at times as you can make headshots and blow people’s brains out. Kids should not be playing this; for adults only. Hurting innocent people causes the law to come after you, but killing criminals is loads of fun (no pun intended). GUN can be exciting, or it can also be laid back if you choose to play that way. So if you like old west actions or western movies and wished a good game existed; this is the one for you!

Pros:
best cowboy game available
free roaming levels
excellent story
excellent voice actors
excellent level design
excellent action
excellent controls
excellent sound effects
excellent music
excellent A.I.
fun side quests
weapons can be upgraded
blood and gore

Cons;
-some towns feel a bit too empty
and needs more people
-some levels are linear
-a few areas have invisible barriers
to prevent you from roaming too much
-you cannot swim.

  • Experience over 200 maps in both day and nighttime settings

Description of Rogue Warrior: Xbox 360

Platform: Xbox 360

Rogue Warrior is a story-driven shooter that provides team-based tactical combat set in massive, contiguous levels using Unreal 3 streaming technology. Central to the game’s single and multiplayer experience is the idea of a freeform battlefield, where players are given the freedom to choose how to complete a given objective, allowing for creativity and surprises, rather than heavily scripted events and tightly contained spaces traditionally used in this genre. An advanced AI system allows NPCs to react and fight realistically, see and hear others, and respond as a team. Rogue Warrior offers a new take on the multiplayer experience, with 10 gameplay modes and a system whereby maps are created using tiles that are selected by each team. Rogue Warrior’s tiling system allows users to experience over 200 maps in both day and nighttime settings. In addition, the campaign features solo and on-the-fly cooperative play for up to four players, where anyone can join or leave an existing campaign game at any time without having to go to menus or save progress. In Rogue Warrior, you play Dick Marcinko, leader of an elite SEAL unit trapped behind enemy lines in North Korea on a covert mission to assess the threat posed by North Korea

Customer Reviews

I want some of the stuff the other reviewers must be drinking because for them to walk away from this game and even consider giving this festering pile of dung anything more than one star let alone 4 or 5 they must be out of their minds.

First off, this is an extremely short game. It plays about 2 hours or so with no replay value.

Gameplay:
The AI is horrible, you run through linear maps through 8 missions, and there isn’t too much to it. Expect most of the enemies to have their backs to you so you can easily kill them, expect no sound detection for the stealth so you can run around behind an enemy and he won’t even notice, and expect to miss most of the shots you shoot given the shot detection is flawed. It’s frustrating to play this game.

Multiplayer Gameplay:
The multiplay gameplay is horrid. You can only really play deathmatch and given how horrid this game is you can’t even find people to really play with.

Graphics:
Horrible outdated graphics only add insult to injury.

Sound:
The main character curses (a lot) but besides that nothing is too great about this game.

Seriously, this game is horrible. Please at the very least consider checking review sites before buying anyone this as a gift. The average metacritic review is 3.6/10 and most review sites barely give this anything over 1/10. It’s a horrible game and I wish I had waited for the reviews to come out before I ordered it. Consider yourself warned.
Remember back in the 90′s when every celebrity had to have a video game? From Tim Allen’s Power Tool Pursuit to Shaq-Fu, these games sucked and obviously tried to bank on the celebrity status to move the games to the fans. That is what Rouge Warrior is like, a retro dollar bin game coded by first year computer science interns.

I was looking forward to this game. I liked most of the Rogue Warrior series (When Dick wrote with John Weisman) and Bethesda Games are normally top notch. But this one slipped though the creative QA process. Here are a few of my observations; The enemies are stupid. Their backs are turned most of the time and I can clomp up to them (no stealth) and do a kill move which is a cut scene to a poor graphic close up shot. There is no health status bar, no character development, the weapon action is just sad. I can shoot someone with a silenced .45 @ 50 yards and score a one shot kill yet I can empty a nearly a full clip into an enemy in the same room and they are still standing. Oh and grenades? Yeah they do not work hardly at all.

Bottom line: Man does this game suck. Certainly gets my vote for the worst of 2009. I would only buy this if:
- You like Demo Dick so much, that you have to have everything with his name on it
- You collect crappy games and this would look great next to Outpost
- You like to hear folks say the F word because although Rogue Warrior is a crappy game with the controls and playability of a Tofu sword, Demo Dick has to cuss alot to show that he does not listen to orders and is his own one man A Team without the cool van.

Then I would buy it used, since you can guarantee a used disk will not be played much…
I ordered this in July because it was hyped up to be the greatest game coming out. I was terribly mistaken in getting this one. First off, the game seems to concentrate more on shock treatment than playability – extremely excessive and unnecessary language – and the “kill” feature shows a lot of violent ways to kill someone with a knife. If only they put that much emphasis on the game mechanics. It is extremely linear and there aren’t a lot of options to choose from in how to play the game. One moves from room to room and kills everyone. That’s it. No thought process, no alternate paths to the goal (like Splinter Cell). Buy Splinter Cell or Call of Duty Modern Combat 2 if you want a good military shooter game. Don’t but this one.

Customer Reviews

I found this to be quite the opposite experience that the reviewer before me had. While i can agree that some of the textures could have been polished more, i think that ,for the most part, the game is beautiful graphically. Nice fire and smoke particle effects. Nice ragdoll effects on the bad guys.EX. Their bodies ‘sway’ away from a bullet hitting. You hit them in the right shoulder, then their right shoulder twists back and forces the opponent to stagger. However, the clipping/collision is unusually bad. Some things you can just walk right through. That’s a strange weakness for games these days. I thought that issue was cleared up 5 years ago.
Now, onto the plot. It’s a bit like an Indiana Jones Movie, except here you DON’T know what the item is your looking for.
At least, not for most of the game. Thick storyline with massive amounts of cutscenes. No troubles installing. No kick-backs to desktop while playing the game. A couple of issues with some of the manual. Not enough explanation in a few areas.

This comes on 3 CD-ROMS and takes up around 2 gig.
Very good vocal acting, and incredible horse-riding effects. You really feel the speed of the horse!
Once you get past the training levels and start seeing the ‘actual’ game, you’ll see the true quality of gameplay.
I think it’s very strong, myself, and, Well written!
Many prospective customers may be a little surprised when they start playing the game, after seeing the impressive advertising promoting it. The television advertising and most of the print advertising for GUN show the cut-scenes between levels. Very little of the actual in-level action is shown. I’ve not seen better PR for a videogame since the much vaunted BROTHERS IN ARMS.

For those who don’t realize it, GUN is mostly a Third-Person Shooter similar to RED DEAD REVOLVER. First-Person Shooter (FPS) fans might be a little disappointed. There are a few FPS scenes scattered throughout the game, but it is mainly of the rail-shooter variety where you quickdraw your pistol and just stand fixed, while you aim
