Apple iPod touch 16G 2nd Generation

Apple iPod touch 16G 2nd Generation

The iPod touch has always been an amazing iPod. And with its groundbreaking technologies–including a Multi-Touch screen, the accelerometer, and 3D graphics–and access to hundreds of games, iPod touch puts an amazing gaming experience in the palm of your hand. It comes in 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB models with new volume controls and a built-in speaker. Play hours of music. Create a Genius Playlist of songs that go great together. Watch a movie. Surf the web. View rich HTML email. Find your location and get directions with Google Maps. Browse YouTube videos. And shop the App Store for games and applications.

It’s exactly this particular basic drawback that has put me right off from buying an iPod even if it’s the celebrated Apple iPod Touch 16 GB (2nd Generation).

I agree 200% that it’s the best available dedicated media player. Excellent looks, slick layout, great in fact unmatchable software options, even great audio quality, yet it has failed to impress me at an aspect which matters, at least to me, most. The frequency is very flat meaning thereby, it does not emphasize on any group of frequencies, add very little noise, cross talk is perfect but it’s out put power is low, which naturally gives massive problems with big headphones that could have lower ceiling on their maximum volume potential which is a disadvantage. I don’t know the reason but headphone accompanying it is, to use a single term, bad. Yes bad.

It is dubbed as the “funnest iPod ever”, agreed it has all in it, music, videos, photos, podcasts, e-mail, Web browsing, Internet radio, games, Nike+, Wi-Fi music downloads, and an App Store for adding thousands of custom features. Fine, no disagreement there. It’s a portable device with great screen, big, bright and scintillating, remarkable battery life, lots of programs available. Now here again no bluetooth, a separate iTune software is required at that. It’s got a fabulous equalizer but the problem is you can not customize it to your requirement.

Now let me be very explicit, it has got a great interface and allows multiple touch points of contact at a time so you get more option compared to most MP3 player with a touch screen. The hardware is excellent, no doubt. If you are really bent on buying an iPod, just get it you won’t feel bad. That’s a promise. But if you are looking for real quality music go for the traditional stuff.

Just check out, hope you would convince me to get one. Happy listening.

Apple-13.3 MacBook AirSAVE $699! NEW MacBook Air 1.6GHz NOW only $1,099.99 (was $1799) after rebate

Apple Macbook Air – Still the thinnest and lightest Mac notebook, the new MacBook Air has a bigger hard drive, better graphics, and even more power.

Apple is pushing the envelope (cough cough) with the MacBook Air … in various ways that some people will love and others will hate. On one hand they offer a super thin, lightweight design, but on the other they take away ports and give you a permanent battery.

While it makes compromises as all subnotebooks do, 3 key elements are uncompromised: display size, keyboard and processing power. The Air is thinner than numbers can express, so goreous it belongs in the museum of modern art and light enough for those with bad backs or chronic jet lag. Ultraportables aren’t for everyone: they cost more and lose features in the process of getting small and light, but for those who want or need one, the Air is among the best. We’re thrilled that Apple has joined Sony in the the “Think Different” subnotebook camp. Once you use one, you just might find it hard to go back to a traditional laptop.

Sony PS3 vs Nintendo Wii

September 26th, 2009 Game boy Comments off

While both companies are certainly innovators in this respect, it remains to be seen if the Nintendo Wii or Sony PlayStation 3 has the best version of motion detection controllers. The Nintendo Wii does require a small sensor bar in front of your television before playing to help with the motion detection, while the PlayStation is ready to play without anything extra. This sounds like an easy choice, but once the controllers are even at purchased and signed on, the Nintendo Wii controller will outstretch the PlayStation 3 by just a tad in distance.

Video games with the PlayStation 3 are of an adult nature with scantily clad women and people looking to shoot other people at any moment. However, the Nintendo Wii offers a more wholesome and family-friendly experience with their games. If Wii is right for your children, don?t bat an eye, they will love it!

The Wii is more family-friendly, while the PS3 is better for more graphics-intense games geared towards different gemographics. In addition, I think Nintendo’s motion-sensitive controllers for the Wii are very innovative and fun to play with! Unfortunately however, for most gamers, the difference in game quality is noticeable when comparing the two systems. The PS3 has AMAZING graphics. On an HD Television, you notice such crisp details while playing the PS3. The Wii features only Standard Definition output, which noticeably weakens it when compared to the other next-gen consoles such as the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Sony PS3 vs Nintendo Wii

PS3 Pro’s

  • Better Graphics
  • Plays Bluray movies/Games.
  • Has PS1 compatibility
  • Has Bluetooth built in for either Keyboards/Mice/Headsets.

Cons:

  • Limited Disk space(most games install onto hdd)
  • The built in Browsers awkward.

Wii Pro’s

  • The Wii Remote has better motion sensing/accelerometers than what the sixaxis/dualshock3 give you.
  • Gamecube Backwards compatibility.
  • Better selection of games on Virtual Console than PSN
  • Better Browser
  • Easier to softmod to play Backup Games etc.

Cons:

  • Poor Graphics compared to ps3/360

Should You Buy PS3 Slim or XBox 360 Elite?

September 26th, 2009 Game boy Comments off

ps3 vs xbox360The PlayStation 3 120GB system is the next stage in the evolution of Sony’s console gaming powerhouse. Loaded with a mix of multimedia features and functions available on earlier PlayStation 3 models, as well as a series of new advancements and refinements, the PlayStation 3 120GB system is destined to push the envelope in the realm of Next-Generation entertainment.

What are some of the specs PS3 slim comes with? Well, let’s see. It has HDMI and Bravia Sync functionality, which, in layman’s terms, means that you will have a much clearer picture and you will be able to instantly synch up with any other Sony HDMI-enabled products that you may own, without needing to use multiple remote controls! The PS3 boasts a 33% slimmer, 36% lighter, energy-saving console. It comes with a Dualshock 3 wireless controller, (which is basically the same type of controller as the PS2 without the annoying hassle of a cord), and 120GB of memory for storing games, music, videos, and photos. It also has Wi-Fi capability, so you can connect to online networks, and plays everything from Blue-Ray to CD’s to DVD’s. You’ll also get free membership to events, games, movies, TV shows and other media on the PlayStation Network (PSN). The PS3 has a long way to go in the game department, though, so if you are looking for a more multi-functional product than just a gaming console, this would probably be the better choice.

Xbox 360 Elite Console has three powerful core processors and 120 GB of memory! That means much faster load times and a lot more room for saved games! Comes with full surround sound capability and DVD playback with upscaling capabilities so you can play your older games on the new console. Excellent selection of games, including many 360-only exclusives; all games are in native high-definition; user-friendly Dashboard interface; supports wireless controllers and accessories; Xbox Live service offers online multiplayer (with matchmaking and voice chat) and content downloads for most games; backward compatible with many–but not all–original Xbox titles; If you like playing your friends and even people you don’t know in online games, or if you just like being able to download new content for your games and interface, then the X-Box 360 Elite is for you!

PS3 Slim Vs. Xbox 360 Elite

Parity

  • Storage: 120 GB on both systems
  • CD, DVD playback: both
  • Bluetooth/IR: Bluetooth included with PS3, Infrared remote for Xbox
  • Community: PSN/Home memberships are free, Xbox Live includes free Silver membership and one-month Gold subscription, paid thereafter

Advantage PS3 Slim

  • Blu-ray: PS3 only. Blu-ray disks aren’t used for HD movie playback but to deliver games as well. Since they store several times more data than a DVD disk, PS3 games can be ‘bigger’ and be still delivered on one disk, eliminating the need for swapping during gameplay.
  • WiFi: included with PS3, available as an add-on for Xbox.
  • HDMI 1.3a on PS3 (more vivid colors, better sound) vs. HDMI 1.2 on Xbox
  • Controller: wireless on both systems, rumble on both, PS3′s only is motion sensitive, rechargeable batteries built into PS3′s, Xbox rechargeable battery packs available for purchase.
  • Integration with a handheld device: PS3 integrates with the PSP, the Xbox offers Zune integration. I would call it ‘advantage PS3′ because the Zune integration is limited to file transfers.
  • Internal power supply: yes for the Slim, a large external ‘brick’ for the Xbox.
  • Ability to upgrade the Hard Disk: the PS3 could use any cheap 2.5″ SATA on the market (a 500GB can be had for $90 at the time of this writing and the existing PS3 disk can be recycled to upgrade a laptop or as external storage) without voiding the warranty. I am not aware Xbox HDD upgrades beyond 120GB but, judging by the 120GB upgrade HDD for the smaller models, they are likely to be proprietary, more expensive solutions.
  • Slim comes with USB, Ethernet and Composite cables, Xbox has only Composite in the box.

Advantage Xbox 360 Elite Fall 2009

  • Headset: not included with PS3 but any Bluetooth device will work, wired headset included with Xbox Elite.
  • Ethernet: PS3 supports Gigabit Ethernet, Xbox is limited to 100BASET-T.
  • USB ports: Xbox comes with 3, Slim has only 2.

So, it really boils down to which system you prefer. If you’d rather have a PS3 for the Blue-Ray capability and for more than just a gaming system, then the choice is clear. But if you are a hardcore gamer who likes to have plenty of titles to choose from and plenty of content to download to enhance those titles, than you should definitely go with the X-Box 360.

PS3 Slim vs. PS3 80/160GB

September 26th, 2009 Game boy Comments off

PlayStation 3 Slim vs old PS3Since the early September 2009 release (or end of August for some), the PlayStation 3 120 GB system has sold more than one million units worldwide. The PS3 120GB not only has the lowest price tag ( $299.99) of the PS3 family to date, but also has lower power consumption, a streamlined design and a larger capacity harddrive.

This how the new model compares to its predecessors:

+ $100/200 less
+ Smaller
+ More energy efficient
+ More quiet operation
+ Cooler
+ Smaller Cell processor manufactured using a 45-nanometer manufacturing process
+ New, more advanced HDMI 1.3 chipset
+ Easier HDD upgrade

- No Linux support
- No on-off switch in the back
- Push rather than touch ‘On’ and ‘Eject’ buttons
- Not as pretty

= Unchanged game-playing experience
= Same great Blu-ray player
= Same PSP integration
= Same WiFi, Bluetooth built-in
= Same Dualshock 3 rumble, motion sensitive controller
= Same I/O options

The PS3 Slim is a superior product when compared with the PS3 80/160GB models. This relatively inexpensive, feature packed, versatile gaming machine, multimedia hub and outstanding Blu-ray player, earns back the 5th star that I granted the Classic models and I didn’t feel that the PS3 80/160GB models deserved.

Granted, when compared to the PS3 Classic, the PS3 Slim lacks PS2 compatibility, has 2 fewer USB ports and and it lacks media card slots but these shortcomings are offset by the significantly lower price, energy efficiency, larger storage and an updated CPU and HDMI. And, keeping hope alive by feeding it rumors, who knows? Sony just might add PS2 software emulation once it stops manufacturing the PS2 sometime, next year.
